A very nice Czech VZ-23 (Persian 98/29) Long Bayonet made for the Persian Military. These Czech manufactured bayonets were made for the 8mm Mauser M1898/29 rifles in the early 1930's. The scabbard is of blued sheet-rolled-steel with a French-style frog loop rather. Very nice nickel plated dress bayonet with wooden grips. Blade has no maker marks, This is normal for a self purchased bayonet. Bayonet has the distinctive NCO style hooked quillon and lanyard loop in the pommel. Lock button functions perfectly. Fitted in correct original steel scabbard that has been repainted.
