Österreich Vaterlands Front mit Krone (Kruckenkreuz)

In a very good condition a very rare Fatherland Front with crown (Crutch Cross)

It is a strange assembly of the emperial crown together with the crutch cross from the 1st republic. It doesn't have any marking on it.

The Fatherland Front was founded on 20 June 1933 by Austrian Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss as a unitary movement. Formally, the Front stood above the parties. In May 1934, the Fatherland Front became the only permitted political party. The goal of the Front was the mobilization of the Austrian population in the new corporate state (corporatism). The Front stood for a 'social, Christian and German Austria.' (This last part, by the way, only referred to the German character of Austria; the Front did not strive for an Anschluss). The symbol of the Fatherland Front was the crutch cross. After the assassination of Dollfuss (July 1934), Ernst von Starhemberg took over the leadership of the Front. In March 1936, Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg became Leader of the Front. Secretary General of the Front was Walter Adam.

After the Anschluss with Germany in March 1938, the Front was banned by the German occupiers. Most leaders were imprissoned and placed in concentration camps.
