Background info:
This badge was donated by the Ministry of Reconstruction in 1922 for all those who worked in the colonies and in the interests of the colonies during the World War. The issue or award was initially carried out by the Ministry of Reconstruction. From December 31, 1935, the award was awarded by the Foreign Office. In this case, only the authorization to purchase was granted. From January 1936, the badge was only awarded in exceptional cases by the Führer and Reich Chancellor personally. Versions in silver-plated non-ferrous metal or, more rarely, in aluminum were awarded. Around 8,000 pieces were issued.
The design was made by the sculptor Moebius from Berlin-Wilmersdorf and is also protected under his name.
