In an excellent condition a Medal of the 1936-1939 Campaign (Variant 1 Legion Condor)
The first variant of this medal is recognizable at the top of the medal, a small detail in the shape of a torch or pommel, also called a diamond, characteristic of the specimens given to the Condor Legion. This is directly under the ball holding the ring. No other variant has this specification.
Frontside: Lion fighting with a dragon next to a hammer and sickle, symbol of communism. Behind the figures of the lion and the dragon you can see the Laureate Cross of San Fernando, made of gold metal and, at the top, a rising sun accompanied by the inscription 17 JVLIO 1936 located in the upper left quadrant indicated by the Laureate Cross . The border is decorated with two branches, one of laurel on the right and one of oak on the left.
Backside: Franco shield with the Eagle of San Juan in flight, the yoke and bundle of arrows, a war helmet and the expression ARRIBA ESPAÑA On the edge you can read GENESSMO FRANCO UNA GRANDE LIBRE IMPERIAL MIL.HSP.GLOR. (Miles Hispaniae Gloriosus).
Ribbon is in the Spanish flag colors with black sides which stands for a combatant. There also medals with green sides, those are for non-combatants.
