Background information:

The badge of recognition for excellent achievements in the technical service of the Luftwaffe was a state award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, Reich Marshal Hermann Göring. It was donated by Göring himself by special decree on June 30, 1941.
The requirements for the award were excellent performance and at least one year's service as an aeronautical or automotive engineer in the Air Force. From September 1944, members of the Luftwaffe entourage in the area of Generalluftzeugmeister could also be awarded. The badge was awarded from 1943 until the end of the war by the General Aviation Training Office.
