The Queen Luise League was founded in 1923 and was named after Queen Luise, the wife of Friedrich Wilhelm III. of Prussia. After her early death and her role in the wars of liberation against Napoleon, she was greatly revered by the people. The federation was monarchist and conservative and was close to the DNVP (German National People's Party). Goals were the education of girls and women according to the monarchist model, willing to make sacrifices and devoted (like the queen) as well as charitable goals. Political goals were part of the program and an expression of the reactionary orientation. Although the Bund Queen Luise was close to the Frontkampferbund Stahlhelm, it is not the women's organization of the same. That was the Stahlhelm Frauenbund. Federal leader was Marie Netz, replaced in 1932 by Freifrau von Hadeln. The number of members in 1933 is given as around 200,000. The league was supported by the House of Hohenzollern.
