General Zdrojewski, deputy of the Minister of the Polish Government in Exile in London and military leader of the Polish Resistance in France, decided in 1945 to create the Commemorative Medal of the Polish Resistance in France. This decoration rewards all Poles and the many French and foreigners who, under his command, have served in an exceptional manner in the fight against the common enemy. According to the will of General Zdrojewski, this medal was to be a testimony of brotherhood in arms of the French Home Forces of Polish descent to their French comrades.

In special note and in accordance with the government agreements concluded between France and Poland, the General specifies the modalities of the allocation and the planned structure. The statutes of the medal, dated January 10, 1945, have not been published.

The following were awarded: - Five medals with rosette:
General Zdrojewski, General de Gaulle, General Koenig, Georges Bidault, General Chaban-Delmas.
- Two medals with Polish eagle in silver: Vincent Auriol and Ambassador Abel Verdier
- 1993 medals without ornament (according to Claude Quillateau); 1780 according to the magazine Symbols and Traditions.

It was the subject of two strokes:
- the 1st model has a ball in which the ram ring
passes - for the 2nd model, a ring replaces this ball
