The NCO School VII existed from May 1971 to April 1973 in Potsdam, and was afterwards located in Glöwen
The non-commissioned officer schools of the NVA trained so-called temporary non-commissioned officers and career non-commissioned officers as lower commander cadres and technical specialists in four-and-a-half to twelve-month courses in troop-related training and conducted further training courses. Educational requirements were a high school diploma or a comparable educational qualification and completed vocational training. The necessary military, military-technical and pedagogical-methodical knowledge and skills for later use were imparted. The compulsory political education was an essential part of the training.
