In an excellent condition a police silver plated 8 years service award

The service awards for the police were donated on the 5th anniversary of the seizure of power by the National Socialists on January 30, 1938 by Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. The award consisted of 3 levels. The 1st level for 25 years of loyal service, the 2nd level for 18 years and the 3rd level for 8 years of loyal service in the police force. Periods of service in the military and as a civil servant were counted. From 1940, the service award could also be awarded to reactivated retirees. Their service time before retirement was also taken into account. In November 1941, former Austrian and Sedeten German officials were also included. Since 1942, the air protection police, as part of the police reserve, were also among those entitled to receive them. The 1st and 2nd stage are , gold and silver plated. The 3rd level is a medal. From 1942 the badges of honor were made in zinc and silver-plated. The oak leaves donated on August 12, 1944 for 40 years of service to the 1st level were no longer produced or awarded. Source: J. Round silver plated medal with raised edge. At the top a soldered ordinary eyelet with a band ring.

Frontside:

The national emblem of the police is embossed in the middle. An eagle with spread wings head left, seated on a wreath of oak leaves. In it the swastika placed on its point. The oval is formed from oak leaves bound at the top and running behind the eagle and wreath.

Backside:

In the middle the number - 8 - on the edge the inscription in Gothic script: Für treue Dienste in der Polizei

Ribbon: Blue 36 mm wide.
