In an excellent condition a police silver 18 years service award

Service award of the police 2nd level for 18 years 1938

The service awards for the police were donated on the 5th anniversary of the seizure of power by the National Socialists on January 30, 1938 by the Führer and Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. The award consisted of 3 levels. The 1st level for 25 years of loyal service, the 2nd level for 18 years and the 3rd level for 8 years of loyal service in the police force. The 1st and 2nd stages are crosses, gold plated and silver plated respectively. The 3rd level is a medal. When calculating the length of service, periods of military service and periods as civil servants were taken into account. People who were expelled from the NSDAP could not be honored. From 1940, retirees and civil servants who were reinstated could also be awarded. The time before retirement and the time after re-employment counted. From 1941 police reservists and from 1942 members of the air protection police were also entitled to receive messages. From November 1941, the award was extended to Austria and the Sudetenland. On August 12th, a golden oak leaf with the number 40 was donated. However, this was no longer manufactured or distributed. The awards ended on December 19, 1944. The 25-year service award has a silver-grey national police eagle embroidered on the ribbon. There are crosses in gilded bronze or silver-plated war metal. Source: J.
