On 18 October 1895 in the place Wörth and die Sauer (present day France) the memorial of the battle of Wörth was inaugurated with a statue of Kaiser Friedrich who at that exact place watched the battle unfold between France and Germany. At that time the Saarland was annexed by Germany for over 25 years since the war of 1870-71
