Friedrich August medal in bronze 1905

This award was presented on April 23, 1905 by King Friedrich August III. donated for meritorious service. The honorees had a rank from sergeant down to soldier or, as civilians, were equal to these ranks. From April 8, 1910, women could also be awarded. From May 22, 1916, the same ribbon clasps as for the Carola Medal were awarded for services rendered during the war. For women, this consisted of horizontal oak leaves and for men, rectangular with rounded corners. Each with the inscription - World War 1914/16 -.
The medals were made of bronze. In 1918, medals made of copper-plated iron were awarded.
The medals were struck by Scharffenberg in Dresden from 1905-1907. From 1908 the royal Saxon mint in Muldenhütten minted the medals. Up to 1918, 240.750 bronze medals and 11.500 medals in (bronzed) iron were minted there. The dies were made by Max Barduleck, medalist for the Saxon state mint.

Round bronze medal with border. At the top a small spherical eyelet with a band ring.

Front:

In the middle are the ornate letters - F - A - R - above them a crown.
The letters are surrounded by a laurel wreath double-tied at the bottom.

In the middle the two-line writing: - Friedrich August - medal -
Decorations at the top and bottom of the rim formed from the diamond wreath of the Saxon coat of arms.

Ribbons:

Ribbon 1 Peace ribbon: yellow 35 mm wide, edges 2.5 mm, side stripes black 5 mm, middle stripe black 2 mm.

Ribbon 2 war ribbon: yellow 36 mm wide, edges 4 mm, side stripes light blue 5 mm
