Freistaat Bayern Feuerwehr Ehrenzeichen für 25 Jahre Dienst
In an excellent condition a Firefighter 25 years jubilee service medal
This badge of honor was donated by the Bavarian government on July 1, 1920 as a replacement for the fire brigade badge in the form of a buckle, which was no longer awarded from 1918 onwards. It was awarded for 25 years and for 40 years of faithful and zealous service in a volunteer fire department. This award could also be given to members of a professional or mandatory fire brigade for particularly outstanding performance. From 1920 to 1922 the oval medals were made of black-fired cast iron. From 1922 these were made from a zinc alloy. The medals for 25 years were blackened or patinated. From 1928 medals were also made in Argentan. Silver medals are known, but are probably privately made pieces. Well-known manufacturers were Jacob Leser from Munich and Carl Poellath from Schrobenhausen. The number of awards is around 200,000.
