Frontside: Der Führer in Köln between oak leaves. dated 28 March 1936. Large Swastika and the Frei ist der Rhein.

The Rhineland was occupied after WWI and demilitarised. To commemorate the moment Hitler visited Koln this badge was created. The slogan the Rhine is free was the initiative to militatize the Rhine area again and place it back under full control of Germany. Remilitarization of the Rhineland by German troops took place on March the 7th 1936
