3rd Reich POA sleave shield & mess kit set
In an excellent condition a Russian Liberation Army sleave shield & mess kit.
Already in July 1941, the German military secret service Abwehr formed a Russian battalion that would soon grow into the combat division Sonderdivision R. What was exceptional was that this division, although an integral part of the Wehrmacht, was under Russian leadership.
The POA, Русская освободительная армия. Or ROA was a Collaboration formation fighting together with the Wehrmacht against the Comunist Russian regime from Stalin. From 1943 when the ROA was formed it was led by Andrey Vlasov, a Red Army general who had defected to the Germans. At the peak the Germans had 150.000 Russians in one or the other way collaborating with them against Stalin. They were mostly stationed in Normandy far away from the Russian front.
The sleave shield is in an unissued and in an excellent condition. Hand made on a linnen background.
The very used Kochgeschirre M 31 (Aluminium) is marked on the lid ESB 39 (Eduard Sommerfeld, Berlin 1939) and on the bottom side FWBN38 (F.W. Brockelmann Aluminiumwerk GmbH KG, Neheim/Ruhr 1939)
On the top side of the lid the Russian POA soldier marked it with his Family name, translated in Latin it means hakimov (хакимов) and on the front of the bottom side of the mess kit he marked it with the years 1941 and 1944 and an A or X.
There is a little hole in the bottom of the mess kit and it is has last supper contents in it.
The set and patch came were acquired from France.
