The Landwehr Service Award 1st Class was donated by King Wilhelm I on July 4, 1868. The Landwehr service award (buckle) donated by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. In 1842 became 2nd class. First class could only be achieved by officers and doctors with the rank of officer who remained in military service for at least 8 years over the prescribed total period of service and who showed a keen interest in the service.
