Prussian Dienstauszeichnung 1. Klasse für 15 Jahre 1914

In a good condition a 15 years service award for officers 1914.

Ribbon is new! Copper color is mostly gone from the medal.

The service awards were donated by Duke Friedrich II on January 1, 1914, modifying the awards from 1867 that were valid up to that point. The years of service for the award changed from 21, 15 and 9 years to 15, 12 and 9 years. The old service awards could be exchanged for the new ones at your own expense. The shortened times were taken into account. The award was given to NCOs and crews of the Anhalt contingent as well as to the Jägerbrigade (district police).
In Anhalt service awards were donated for the first time in Anhalt Bernburg by Duke Alexander Carl and in Anhalt-Köthen on October 29, 1847 by Duke Heinrich. These were awarded in buckle form in 3 classes, for 21, 15 and 9 years of service. These bore - ALEX - CARL - or the Gothic letter - H - and the corresponding Roman number. Service awards for 20 and 12 years of service were donated in Anhalt Dessau-Köthen on February 1, 1848. The second form was introduced by Duke Leopold IV of Anhalt-Dessau-Köthen on April 17, 1855. While maintaining the regulations, the buckles were now provided with the Gothic letter - L -. Soldiers from sergeants downwards of the ducal federal contingent and the gendarmerie were honored. Years of war counted twice and years of service in another German federal state were taken into account. On April 6, 1870, Duke Leopold IV donated buckle-shaped service awards for the entire state of Anhalt for 21, 15 and 9 years of service. The military convention with Prussia in 1867 made the regiment the Anhaltinian Infantry Regiment No. 93. Until 1870, only Anhaltinians could receive the service award. Prussian soldiers in the regiment were excluded. The buckles, which were awarded from 1870 onwards, could be awarded without taking into account the country of origin. The service awards were returnable. Source: Gerd Scharfenberg, The Orders and Medals of the Anhalt States, 1999.
