Prussian Kriegsdenkmünze für Kämpfer 1813-1814 (kantige Kreuzarme)
In an excellent condition a 200 years old commemorative coin for the Prussian freedom war against Napoleon.
This war memorial was donated on December 24, 1813 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Together with this medal, the medal was donated for 1814 and 1813/14. The medal for 1815 was not donated until October 30, 1815. This award was given to those fighters who took part in the war of liberation against Napoleon in 1813 and who really fought. The prerequisite was faithful service and no crime or excess during the fighting. In addition to the Iron Cross, which individual fighters received for service in combat, Friedrich Wilhelm III also wanted to donate a memorial to all others who contributed to the fight against the occupiers. The war memorial was revoked and confiscated from delinquent soldiers and suicides. After the death of the bearer, the medals should be handed over to the responsible parish and lists of names should be made.
Medals were made with round cross arms (so-called Paris production) and medals with sharp-edged cross arms (so-called Berlin production). The medals with sharp-edged cross arms are regarded as later productions because no medals 1815 with round cross arms are known. There are also differences in the material properties. Medals with the dates 1813, 1814 and 1813/1814 with sharp-edged cross arms are also referred to as replacement pieces or reproductions (assumed production around 1815).
