Pessler & Sohn Military Geological Compass
Pessler & Sohn a German company from Freiberg (Saxony). Founded at the beginning of the 20th century. Astronomical and geodetic instruments. The instruments of this company were used in WWI and WWII for geological surveys, Hildebrand in Freiberg made exactly the same compasses but for Artillery purpose.
The company was nationalized by the new DDR in 1951 and became part of the VEB Freiberger Präzisionsmechanik combine which made by then compasses for the NVA the company is called today FPM.
